B'nai David-Judea (BDJ), located in Los Angeles, is at the forefront of today's most important issues facing the 21st century Jew. Under the leadership of Rabbi Yosef Kanefsky, BDJ has created a unique Orthodox Jewish community of people from different Jewish backgrounds, drawn together by the joyous, non-judgmental and supportive atmosphere that pervades our shul.We boast a membership of more than 250 families, and our staff leadership gets assistance in its mission through an active board of directors, a very participatory congregation, and a rich and lively committee system.
We cherish our senior members, have created an enduring children's program and reach beyond our walls to the greater community around us. We're passionate about Medinat Yisrael (the State of Israel), and are pledged to support her in every way possible. Ultimately, we're bound together by our mutual affection and our common commitment to live lives illuminated by the teachings of Torah. In addition, through a shul renovation and special programming, we reaffirm our commitment to women's equality in Judaism.
We honor and pay special attention to our senior members, devote major efforts and resources to our children, and have created a vibrant youth program that teaches our values. Our Shabbat and holiday programming for children, known as Rechov Yeladim, is more than just babysitting groups. It is a special time for our children to enhance their shul experience, with age-appropriate activities, from circle time and singing for toddlers, to introducing minyan to our pre-Bar/Bat Mitzvah crowd, all the way to teen minyan, where our junior high and high school students participate in and lead their own minyan, preparing them for leadership in later years.
We warmly welcome you to a special community of people with different Jewish backgrounds, drawn together by a joyous and supportive atmosphere. We're traditional, but innovative, and deeply committed to strengthening the bonds of understanding among the different movements within the Jewish community.
